Some new threads....

 I mentioned a few days ago that I had ordered some new threads.  Well they came today and I am so anxious to get my little needle into them.  First was more of Vikki's HDF silks.  I ordered two minis of Primitive Black, one of Rum Cherry and one of Old Maid of the Vineyard.  These will be going in to stitching some quakers I have in mind.

Below is the picture of the threads I bought from Nina.  This is the first time I purchased some, but I assure you it won't be the last.  These are such yummy colors!!!  They are Cherry Cola, Rose Tea, Old Berry, Hackberry and Spring Passion.  I haven't decided what design these are going to be used for but I know I'm gonna love stitching with them.  If you haven't checked out these hand dyed fibers of Nina, you might want to take a glance....you won't be sorry.

My Chicken Pincushion

With my love of pincushions, you know I just had to stitch this one by Twisted Oaks. I used a silk from HDF called Dragon Droppings and it has a tan as a base with all the colors of jewels in it. I just love this color and hope to obtain more asap. I think a large quaker stitched out of this would be stunning. I really didn't know what color of beads to use as the waddle and crown so I picked a neutral color of olive green. I think it sets the jewel tones off perfectly.

Blue Tulip Bunny Needle Roll

Well here it is Monday morning and I have finished a design and am getting ready to start another one. Don't you just love starting a new pattern ....picking out the fabric and then the fibers. As much as I hate mondays, this will make today a little better.

I loved doing this pattern!!! It was the first Primitive Betty design I have stitched and I'm definitely looking for more. It was stitched on Vintage Belfast linen using HDF silks by Vikki Hastings. I tea dyed the blue pillow ticking fabric to give it a vintage look like the linen.

I would love to know if you have stitched any of Betty's designs.

GOS Contest #6 Entry

They are up to Contest #6 and this is what I have done with the design this time. My hubby is really good at woodwork and he's so nice to make me my hornbooks in just about any shape I can come up with. This time I thought an arch shape would be nice for this design after I added the quaker design at the top of it. This one was stitched on mushroom 28ct. evenweave using HDF silks....and this one is name "Chocolate Covered Cherries". Yum yum yum. What is it with me that I am always buying these flosses that are named after food. LOL

The spoon in the foreground was also made by

hubby for me. It's called a Sweetheart Spoon and it's a celtic tradition to present one to your sweetheart....hence the name.
Since it's friday, I want to wish everyone a good weekend and I hope you are able to get some stitching in. We all need a little therapy now and then and mine is stitching.

A Finish, A Giveaway and A Movie

First off I have another finish that I just love. This design by La D Da was a really fun stitch and it worked up really fast. It's stitched on 36ct. Days Gone By linen using HDF silks by Vikki Hastings. I finished it like the directions with a little bit of a twist. On the back I blanket stitched a heart on a pocket that has a touch of creamlace at the top. This will make a great way to carry my Blackberry and maybe slip a little money in the back pocket.

Next is about my next giveaway. I have started the stitching and hopefully will have the prize finished by saturday. I will tell you this....the colors are white fabric with stitching in a medium green and a medium peach. Tantalizing isnt it? Well you'll just have to wait a few days.

Thirdly is about a movie I just watched. My husband and I are great fans of the director James Cameron and we have been waiting patiently for his movie Avatar to be released on dvd. My hubby can't go to movies because of his deafness so we wait patiently for their release. I wish I could describe the colors in this film. The entire movie, I was sitting here trying to match the colors with DMC floss. LOL I know I am either going to design something or else take an existing design and try to duplicate the colors. I wish I had seen this movie on the big screen to get a better look at them. If you haven't seen this movie, it is well worth it just for the photography. A Danybrod finish

I love this ladies designs. If you have never looked at her blog....http://dany88.canalblog.com/ take the time....it's well worth it. This one was stitched using HDF silks by Vikki Hastings on 32ct. cream Belfast linen. There are two pages of wool to hold your different size needles and a pocket in the middle to hold scissors.

This is the third design of hers I have stitched and I have several more so stay tuned.

French Heart Tin Finish

This JBW design was just asking to be placed on this heart tin don't ya know. My daughter, Jenn, knows how I like frou frou french and bought me the high heel for my birthday. I love it....it is so shabby chic with a french touch. Also the stitching was done with a HDF silk called....are you ready for this.....Chocolate Covered Cherries. Don't ya love it!!!

Blackbird Design Pincushion

This is my latest finish from Blackbird Designs. As you see, I had to change it again into my own idea to make it "mine". I stitched it with HDF silks from Vikki Hastings on 28ct. Ancient Cashel Linen. I added the tiny ruffle around the edge and the little ruffle around the button in the middle. I felt horrible that I couldn't add one of my bows but the design just was too busy for one.

I love doing Blackbird designs and this one will make a great addition to my collection. One thing I forgot to mention is what it's filled with.....rice with dried lavender so it has a beautiful smell to it.
