Above are handmade slippers in the most softest, fluffiest yarn you can imagine. A microwaveable compress for that ache we always end up with. A pair of pink and white socks and last but not least, is a Breast Cancer Awareness bracelet.
There will also be a surprise included but that you won't find out about until the winner receives the package. So please enter your name to this post and prepare to pamper yourself in just a few weeks. This giveaway will end on October 15th when I pick the winner.

A sweet finish and a reminder

I had this one skein of a cream silk yarn and I just couldn't think of anything to do with it. Then I came across this sweet little purse pattern on Ravelry and it worked up perfectly. I've lined the purse with a duponi silk fabric in cream that matches beautifully and the buttons are gold with pearl inlay. The finished size is approx. 5 x 7 inches.

Wouldn't this make a wonderful gift for a bride or maybe a little purse to carry this upcoming holiday season. You will find this for sale in my store if you are interested in purchasing it.

And don't forget about this sweet autumn pillow by La D Da Designs that's in my store just waiting to decorate your house this fall.

New Drawn Thread Designs and More

If you know me, you know I love Drawn Thread designs and this month Cynthia has come out with 3 new ones. I absolutely love the new Christmas one above. I can't wait to get my needle on this one.

This one I'm not sure how I will finish it. I see it framed but also as a pillow. I guess it will let me know as I'm stitching it.

And last but not least is the new Halloween one. This one I'm doing first if I have time before Halloween gets here.

This is a new one from Homespun Elegance and it's one that will definitely find it's way into my sewing room. I love pomegranate designs and this one is right up my alley.

This is the Lavender and Lace design called Michael. I've loved every design that Marilyn has come out with except this one. Something about it just bothers me but I can't put my finger on it.

Well back to working on my commissioned work and hopefully I will finish in time to do the Drawn Thread halloween design. Let me know which ones you like or dislike. Different tastes makes the world go round.

Something to keep her warm

One of my friends works with a lady who is going thru a rough time right now and she asked me to make a shawl for her. I decided to make her a prayer shawl. I picked a cream yarn that is fully washable to make it out of and I hope she likes it. This is the prayer that goes along with it:
"Dear God, Bless the shawl that my hands are about to create and make it a comfort and a blessing to the person who receives it. May she find peace during life's trials, setbacks, disappointments and hardships as she wraps herself in Your love and in this shawl. May it be a sign of Your loving presence and a reminder that she is surrounded by prayers asking You to give her wings to fly above her troubles. Amen

Please check in on October 1st because I will be having a new giveaway for Breast Cancer Awareness. Now that is a clue: the giveaway gift will be pink.

I wish all of you the best,

Pictures from a friend

Being from Pennsylvania I am use to seeing some beautiful pictures of scenery and I was so happy when a sweet friend emailed me these. I have no idea where they were taken but they sure do remind me of home. I hope in looking at them, you see a little of your home too.

Things I Just Have to Share With You

Great truths that little children have learned:
1. No matter how hard you try, you can't baptize cats.
2. When your mom is mad at your dad, don't let her brush your hair.
3. If your sister hits you, don't hit her back. They always catch the second person.
4. Never ask your 3-year old brother to hold a tomato.
5. You can't trust dogs to watch your food
6. Don't sneeze when someone is cutting your hair
7. Never hold a Dust-Buster and a cat at the same time
8. You can't hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk
9. Don't wear polka-dot underwear under white shorts
10. The best place to be when you're sad is Grandma's lap

Great truths that adults have learned:
1) Raising teenagers is like nailing jelly to a tree.
2) Wrinkles don't hurt.
3) Families are like fudge...mostly sweet, with a few nuts
4) Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground...
5) Laughing is good exercise. It's like jogging on the inside.
6) Middle age is when you choose your cereal for the fiber, not the toy

Great truths about growing old:
1) Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional...
2) Forget the health food. I need all the preservatives I can get.
3) When you fall down, you wonder what else you can do while you're down there.
4) You're getting old when you get the same sensation from a rocking chair that you once got from a roller coaster. 5) It's frustrating when you know all the answers but nobody bothers to ask you the questions...
6) Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician
7) Wisdom comes with age, but sometimes age comes alone

Success is:
At age 4 success is . . . . Not piddling in your pants.
At age 12 success is . . . Having friends.
At age 17 success is . . Having a driver's license.
At age 35 success is . . . ..having money.
At age 50 success is . . . Having money..
At age 70 success is . .. . Having a drivers license.
At age 75 success is . .. . Having friends.
At age 80 success is . . .. Not piddling in your pants.
Hope some of these gave you a laugh....it's what makes the world go round.

A knitting project finished - happy dance time

I love happy dances!!! I finished the wool head band I was knitting for Jenn to wear when she goes jogging this winter. Since she lives in Colorado, I figured this would come in very handy. It buttons at the base of the neck and won't be in the way of her wearing a pony tail when she jogs. I absolutely loved the wool yarn I used....a superwash wool from Ella Rae which is super soft and will feel wonderful covering her ears.
I've started another knitting project. It's an actual hat for Jenn knitted in a fingering weight wool that is made just a little different. I will wait until I'm finished to post a picture because I sincerely doubt I could describe it in a way that you would understand.
Well tomorrow is Labor Day and I hope for the millions without a job, that you are able to find work soon. November cannot get here fast enough for me.
Everyone have a Blessed Sunday and a safe and happy Labor Day.

Folk Art Angel Hornbook and next knitting project

DH was nice enough to cut out another wooden hornbook for me because I had the perfect pattern to put on it. I love this folkart angel!!! I stitched it on 28ct. evenweave with HDF silks and then I stained it with coffee to give it that "old" look. The hornbook is approx. 7" x 4" with 8 holes across the bottom to hold your fibers. If you are interested in this, you can purchase it in my store.
While visiting my local yarn store, I came across this gorgeous yarn from Ella Rae. It's a superwash merino wool in a worsted weight which will be perfect for the below pattern I want to knit. This is for Jenn to wear when she's out jogging when it gets colder. She almost always wears her long hair in a pony tail and this will fit the bill perfectly. I just started it today so I will post it when I'm finished. This should only take a few days at the most to knit.

I hope the remainder of the week is glorious for all of you and that all your stitches are pefect and that pesty frog stays away.
