I HATE FROGS!!!!

Well that dang frog has decided to make camp on my doorstop and he just might be here for awhile.  Look at this picture and tell me what's wrong with it.

To me she looks like the hunchback of Notre Dame.  Yep her heads on just a little off center and all because I decided that instead of moving the fabric, I'd stitch on her upside down.  That will teach me not to be so cocky and sure of myself.  What this does mean that I'll be frogging all of her head but maybe this coming weekend.  Right now I'm just a little too put out with myself.

I have three projects that I'd like to start.....it's just making up my mind which one.  Here they are:

Ye Old Crow Sampler by Heart in Hand

Mirabilia's 25th Anniversary
Portrait of Antique Vines

Apple Blossom Sampler
by The Drawn Thread

I'm thinking The Old Crow Sampler but not done in total black.  I have a Vikki Clayton silk that is black but has a strain of bright green just slightly highlighting it.  Maybe that would look nice.

But right now I'm going to relax, put my feet up, maybe do a little knitting or.....

I know I just posted yesterday but I saw this and I just had to share.  I have never heard of this animal and when I saw it, I fell deeply in love.  They are called Quokka's and they live in Australia.  They are about the size of a house cat and like kangaroos, they have pouches for their young.  Look at that face!!!!

Am I right or not?  This has got to be the happiest animal on the face of the earth.....just look at that smile!

Also, I love cats and when I saw this picture I once again wished that DH was not allergic to them.  I don't know how Vallie would take to a cat in the house, but for this one I'm willing to try.  What a beauty!

Stunning

I told you about the yarn I ordered from Switzerland....well here it is....the one in the middle.  I can't wait to get my hook into it.  It's scrumptious!!!  The one on the left is a Scheepjes  Whirl and the pink is a new one from Lion Brand.  These are all light weight for wearing here in Florida.

I also did some on My Lady today.  Almost finished with the green and then to add the red flowers.  I hope the top half of the design doesn't take as long as the bottom half did.

Also, I wanted to find out if anyone else had watched "The Crown" mini series.  I just watched seasons 1 and 2 on Netflix so I'm impatiently waiting for season 3.  In case you're interested, it is about Queen Elizabeth II and when she inherited the thrown from her Father, King George.  I don't know how accurate it all is but I will say this.  If she had to go thru what they are showing in this mini series, she is one strong Lady.  I've always admired her and this only reinforces it.

Well I'll shut up now and go back to my stitching.  I will leave you with a chuckle.  You know the feeling you get when you hear that a new chart has come out that you've been waiting for....or the fibers you needed to start a new project....or that fabric you tried dyeing turns out great.....well this picture captures that emotion perfectly.

Hats.....

My dear hubby has decided that I'm wrinkled enough (not really...oh I have the wrinkles, but he didn't say that) and that I should wear a hat when I'm outside.  Now I ask you....what kind of hat should an over weight 65 year old woman wear to mow the grass or water the flowers.  I came up with a few ideas.....see what you think.

Ahhhhh to Remember

Even here in Florida, we were complaining about how cold it was this past winter.  Who else besides me would love to have those days back?  It's so hot here....when I walk to the end of the driveway (which isn't that long) to get the mail and I feel I need to take a shower afterwards, it's too hot.

This I just found hilarious because it reminds me of me!

Art Impressions SKINNY YET SET Cling Rubber Stamps 4672

I finally completed the inside part of the skirt on my patriotic lady and unto a different color.  I kind of thought this printed fabric would be difficult to work on but it's really not.  You find that you don't even see the words and just stitch on.

I also started a new shawl....surprise, surprise.  This is made from one of My Melody gradient yarns from Wolltraum.  The color is called Apache and I love the shades of tan and blue in it.

Stay cool and have a fun week.

What Am I Doing Wrong?

When I stopped posting here, I didn't change anything but now when someone posts a comment I no longer get an email notification.  What have I done now?  I looked at my settings and I have my email address listed for them so what's the problem.  If anyone knows or can help this old lady with this problem please post an answer.

And to the sweet ladies who left comments on my last post, thank you all for the welcome back's and the good wishes.

P.S.  Thank you Marly!!!!!

Hello Again....

I hope all of you have had a fantastic spring and summer so far.  I decided to start blogging again because it helps me keep my sanity....what I have left of it that is.  I know all of you have been very busy because I have kept up with my reading.  I might not of commented but I do read a lot.
To bring you up to date, my friend that found out she had an anuyrism on her aorta, they have decided not to do anything about it at this time.  They will keep doing ct scans to check the growth for the next year.  She's terrified of having surgery because she is 74 and I don't blame her one bit.  My brother in law has had a terrible time since having a knee replacement last November which turned septic and he's been on antibiotics since then.  They are hoping within the next month to his final surgery and give him a new knee.  I have decided to leave this world with what God gave me at my birth.  I hear about so many people getting septic and infections from the simplest surgeries.

Now what I've been working on stitch wise.  I found some goodies at Tuesday Morning the other day and I want to make two small quilts out of them.
This one called Calico Station I want to find some fabric from the same collection but so far no luck.  I might have to go with a solid.  These are the 10" layer cake squares.

These are called Hushabye Hollow and are the softest of flannels.  I did find a coordinating fabric at Fat Quarter shop for the back of this small quilt.

I also finished two shawls but I haven't blocked them yet.
This one is made from an undyed yarn of cashmere and alpaca.  I loved working with this yarn which I purchased on Etsy.  It will turn out quite large when it's blocked.

This one is crocheted using My Melody by Wolltraum of Switzerland.  It starts out as the softest of pinks and go thru lavender to finally ending in a soft teal along the edge.  This one is of cotton/acrylic so I doubt it will grow much from blocking.  This will make a great summer shawl for here in Florida.

.....and what I'm working on now....

This design is from LHN and is called My Lady Liberty.  I was at my LNS several months ago and she had some of the printed fabric from The Primitive Hare so you know I had to buy a piece.  I had no idea what I was going to stitch on her and then one day I was going thru patterns and this one smacked me right on the head.  I'm having a lot of fun stitching it and I've got this idea that when I'm done with the cross stitching, I'm going to add some machine embroidery at the top saying "We The People" because this just reminds me of our great Constitution.  I'm almost finished with the lady's dress bottom and then I can go on to some more interesting stitching  (the bottom is soooooo boring).

So that's what I've been up to.  I'm also working on another shawl called "Custard Cream"....I just had to make this one just because of the name.  I'll have a picture soon of what I have finished so far.

So I'm glad you stopped by to see what I've been up to and I hope each and every one of you has....

A Blessed Day, Barbara

P.S.  I don't know how I could of forgotten my two little love bugs.  Here's Little John although he is starting to tell me not to call him "little".  He's a big boy at 2 1/2.

And this little rug rat is Zane.  I think he has the biggest blue eyes!  Can you tell that I'm in love with both of these little guys?
