Two New Starts

I spent most of last nite looking thru my "todo" list for 2012 and I've decided to start two new designs.  I usually don't do that, but in this case I think it's for the best....and my sanity.
First up I have a confession to make.  The Paris Mandala is not going to be finished by me this year.  I'm not sure if it's the size of the project or the colors but something is not there for me.  I think I might end up taking some elements out of the design and stitching something that pleases me but it as a whole....no way.  Because of that, I decided to stitch one of Martina's small mandalas.  This is the one I have chosen:
The finished size will be about 6" x 6" .....much more do-able for me.  I'm stitching it on 28ct. Dirty Cashel Linen and since there are 3 different patterns in this chart pack, I'm thinking about doing all 3 but all on different fabrics.  Decisions.....
Next is my large project for the moment.  I've decided on L&L Fallen Roses on 32ct. natural linen and I am going to do something a little special with it.  I started this sampler about 3 years ago and then I got into something else and I put it away.  Well I went to dig it out the other day and couldn't find it.  I tore my sewing room apart and couldn't even find the pattern.  I have a bad feeling that it was tossed during a "cleanup" session so I went ahead and bought a new chart.  This is what this pattern looks like:
There at the bottom where it has that open circle space with the year stitched in, I'm going to remove the date and stitch my parents initials with the year of their marriage.  It will be my tribute to them.  Now I just have to finish it!!!!
Well that's what I've got started and I will post updates from time to time.  I hope all your worries have left your home with the beginning of a new year and that you get lots and lots of stitchie time.
Blessings as always,
Barbara

Gardens of Paris Mandala

Have you seen this?  I am in love!!!!!!  I came across this on her blog and it's going to be a Yahoo group starting in December 2011 and going to November 2012.  Well you know of course I have to join this...it's a keeper!  If you are interested in reading about this, you can check it out here.  Now I know I have to get some things around here finished before this one starts and I think this would make a great Christmas gift to me.  LOL
Also, I just received my JCS Ornament Issue for this year and I was grossly disappointed.  Is this just me or did any of you feel the same way.  Usually there are at least 2 ornies that stick out and seem to say "stitch me" but this year I came away not wanting to stitch any of them.  Bummer!!!
Blessings as always,
Barbara

Two New Starts

For those of you who know about the contest that Martina Dey is having, these are my colors. I've decided on HDF fabric and threads. My color scheme is different shades of blue and burgandys. As you can see I have started it and so far it's alot of fun to stitch. I'm planning on doing different stitches and using the silks in interesting ways. I will keep you abreast of my progress as I go.

This is the Chatelaine kit for Indian Summer Reflections that my daughter wants stitched. The pattern has intimidated her so she asked me to do it for her and she's stitching Mirabilia Sabrina for me. This one is done on 32ct Magnolia with all the silks you could possibly want to work with. This one is a biggy and I'm sure will take me several months to complete. I will also show you my progress on this one too.
Wish me luck because I'm surely going to need it.
As always, Barbara
