Updates and an apology.....

I can't believe that I haven't posted since the 4th of January.  This month is just zooming along   We found out what is wrong with my husband's voice and they are not sure it will ever come back.  It happened either when they were putting him on the ventilator or during the surgery itself that they damaged a nerve and paralyzed half of his larynx.  He goes next week for what they call a swallow test to make sure that no fluids are going into his lungs or he could develop pneumonia.  The ENT doctor said there's no way of knowing when it happened so it's just something we have to deal with....as if he doesn't have enough to deal with.

I was up at Needle Orts and picked up the first 3 of BBD's newest designs.  I'm not sure if I want to do them separately or longwise as they did.  I still don't stitch as much as I'd like to because of the shakes and one of these days I'm going to clean out the sewing room and get rid of everything I know I'll never use again.  It's just taking up space.
I did finish two shawls and they both were made of yarn that is yummy.  The first one is still in the process of being blocked and the yarn was Aslan Trends King Baby Llama & Mulberry Silk and feels like a dream.  It's a dk weight yarn and it works up really fast.
The second one was made with a lace weight merino wool that I purchased on Etsy.  I had the light color and when I started the shawl I thought it would look really nice with a darker color added.  I contacted Julie who I purchased it from and she dyed the red and it's perfect.  I love this one because it's really light weight and perfect for Florida even though it's wool.
I can't close without sharing the newest picture of Little John.  Peyton and him came down today and it's chilly here....high's in the 50's so he's all bundled up....but you can still see his grin.
Well that's it for now.  I want to apologize for not responding to posts.  I have been so busy and worried that most of the time I just want to sit and vegetate.  Maybe after DH goes back to work on the first of February I can get back to my old routine.  Between you and I.....he's driving me nuts!!!!

Blessings, Barbara

The beginning of a New Year

Well here it is 2016 .... makes the mind boggle.
Hubby is doing better everyday.  This afternoon we went to Outback Steakhouse for lunch with a gift card we received.  It was quite tasty and because we ate so much there, I didn't have to cook dinner and that's always a good thing.  I hate cooking!  He goes to an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor this Wednesday.  He hasn't been able to talk above a whisper since the surgery and they think that when he was placed on the ventilator, they damaged nerves in the back of his throat.  So now I have a very quiet husband.......bad or not bad?  Can't decide.  LOL  So now we'll wait and see what comes of that.  He will be returning to work on Feb. 1st and as much as I love him, it can't get here soon enough.  Although the sleeping late in bed every morning is nice!
Remember me talking about a CAL I joined that had to do with Downtown Abbey?  Well it started yesterday and here is my finished first clue:
I'm using a Cascade Heritage Silk yarn that's called Strawberry Cream.  I think I'll add some crystal beads to it for just a little twinkle.
I haven't done any stitching at all since before Christmas.  I want to get back to working on my Stacy Nash sampler but I fear that won't be till dh goes back to work.  He's thrown my schedule all out of wack.
That's all for now mostly because I have nothing else to report.....except Little John is getting cuter every day.  They were here on Saturday and I got to rock him to sleep in my Grandmother's rocker.  It's not the smoothest rock so I told my hubby I must get a new one just to rock Little John in.  He actually looked at me as if I was nuts.  Why don't men understand these things?  Geesh

Blessings Upon You, Barbara
