A Stitch a long

Does anyone remember the SAL I hosted in 2013?  You had to make a book and then stitch two things to put in your book for each month of the year.  At the end of the year the members names who had finished the SAL was placed in a bowl and a winner was chosen for the gift bag.
I was wondering if anyone was interested in having another one of these types of SAL for 2015.  If so let me know by posting here and we'll see if we can get a group together.

New Project Started

I was looking around on the internet for some Mink 30ct. and came across a shop in Georgia called Stitch and Frog.  Marty has some beautiful things in her shop and right now she's having a sale so you might want to check her website out.  https://stitchandfrog.com/new-cross-stitch
One of the patterns I purchased was one from The Needle's Notion called AlphaBetsy's House.  You can either just frame the sampler or turn it into a sewing case.  I'm not sure what I'm gonna do yet but I'm leaning towards a stand up to go with the stand up pincushion.

Then we get to Ms. Vallie.  She was at the groomers the other day and she's been depressed ever since.  I'm not real thrilled with how they clipped her this time and it's like she agrees.  Poor baby.

I hope ya'll have a great weekend and if you haven't already, sign up for my giveaway that ends tomorrow.

My Fall Giveaway

Ya'll know how much I love sewing tote bags.  Well I came across a new site...at least to me...called Noodlehead and she has some of the nicest tote bag patterns I've seen.  I made myself this one called "The All-In-One Tote" and I love it.  I made mine out of pinwale cordoroy and it's lined with Kona cotton.  It has my initials on the front and the back large pocket buttons at the top.

The one below is the one I'm giving away.  It is made out of 100% cotton quilting quality.  It is lined in a coordinating cotton and sandwiched between them is Warm and Natural Cotton Batting.  There is a small pocket on the inside and two larger pockets on the outside.....each which button closes at the top.  The finished size of this bag is 15 x 15 and the straps are shoulder length straps.  The winner of this bag has her choice of either having her name machine embroidered on at the top or not.  It's up to them.

Just add a comment to this post only for a chance to win this great tote bag.  I will let Vallie...if she cooperates....pick a name next Saturday.  Please only U.S. addresses.

Singing Polly Wolly......

When I saw this design by La D Da, it reminded me of my child hood and how I loved to sing this song.  I think I drove my dear sweet Mother insane with my singing of it but she never complained.
I'm not sure what I'm going to stitch next.  I have the large Patchwork Lady but I also have several Christmas ornaments I would like to get finished.  Decisions.....decisions.....
I hope all of you have a very Blessed Day,
Barbara

A good mail day.....

I'm beginning to get some of the patterns I've ordered  and it seemed that they almost all came today.  I love ordering over the internet because if you're like me, I have a horrible short term memory and I forget what I've ordered until I get it.  It's like Christmas!
This is what I received today:
From left to right:  Patchwork Lady, Hands to Work, My House, Needle Lady Pocket and BBD new design Eleanor Rigby.  The last one I just fell in love with as soon as I saw it.  I'm not sure in what order I'll be stitching these, but I guarantee it will be soon.

I almost forgot to tell you about my surprise.  Over 20 years ago I was working in a local needlework shop called Itch to Stitch.  Well the other day on Facebook this lady named Cathy messaged me and asked me if I use to work there.  Noticing that she lived in Iowa I asked her how she knew about that store and her answer shocked me.  As it turns out we use to work together at this store and got to know one another pretty well.  It also turns out that she is a designer now and the name of her cross stitch designs are "Hands on Designs".  I'm sure that you are familiar with them....I know I am.  It just shocks me some times at how small this world is actually getting because of the internet.  Has anyone else have an instance where you are put back in touch with someone from your past?
Have a Blessed Day, Barbara

A Labor Day finish

Here it is the first of September already....where has the summer gone.  It's still in the 80's and 90's here in Florida so I'm waiting impatiently for the leaves to turn and the air to get that crisp fall feeling to it.
I hope everyone has a safe and leisurely Labor Day and that you all get some "stitchie" time in.  I was able to put the finishing stitches into this Blackbird Design that I just love.  If you don't like stitching with black....it's not for you.  I used HDF silks on this one and I love how it turned out.  The blackbird has a hint of green and grey running thru it that goes well with the fabric which is WDW Straw Gingham.  This is a fun fabric to stitch on if you haven't tried it yet.
Now I get to go pick out something new to stitch......that's the best part of finishing something!
