A sad realization and some ponderings

Well I started the Strawberry Hill Sampler and came to the sad realization that I can no longer stitch on 36ct or anything smaller.  What this means is that the design that Brenda had designed for the box top, I will have to change in ways to make it fit on my Whitman's box.  This shouldn't mean anything to the huswife or the pincushion.  I think I'm going to stitch these either on cream 32ct or maybe a natural 32ct with the same Sampler Threads the design called for.  I'm sure it will turn out just as beautiful but my boxtop will be different.  I will share photos once I come up with an idea.  As for all the 36ct and 40ct. fabric I have, it will be posted on Never Enough Stash sometime this weekend.

As to my ponderings.....
I was talking on the phone today with my best bud Thellie and before I called her, I was a little down in the dumps but by the end of the call, I was laughing so hard the tears were falling.  Do you have a friend like that?  One that knows you so well that she can change your whole day by just a phone call.  I consider myself very lucky to have such a friend at this time in my life and I don't take this for granted.  So in recognition to my best bud Thellie.......Thank You!

Blessings as always,
Barbara

Barbara, couldn't you use magnification? I used it for a recent 45 count stitch, it worked so well. So glad you have a great friend. I no longer have close girlfriends to talk to.

Oh no Barbara - can't you use magnification for it? I know too, that some linens on that count are hard to see and other linens in the same count but made by a different manufacturer are easier to see. I can no longer stitch on 40 count without the magnification but still seem okay on 36 by certain manufacturers.

Good friends are the best aren't they? I'm glad that your friend was able to cheer you up!!

I can relate to the difficulties with stitching certain stitch counts...I have endured poor vision since age 2! In addition to using the magnifications, please try stitch outside in daylight...for me, this makes a world of difference.

so sorry to hear this.. you know, stitching outdoors would make quite a difference.. even magnifiers I've heard make things way easier.. I'm getting one of those expensive lamps + magnifier for Christmas, as I really don't want to get even thicker glasses..!

you're so lucky to have such a good friend.. keep her close, she must be one of a kind..
happy xxx,

I haven't checked the details on that design but if it needs to be a high count, I won't be doing it either. Sorry you're having to give up the high counts but with your talent, anything you use will be wonderful. Thank goodness for friends!

Magnification! It is a wonder. I can't do the higher counts without it. I am very lucky to have a friend like yours.

Sometimes seeing and stitching ~at the same time~ can be a real problem, I really feel for you ~ having been there myself, just not fair! I've experienced vision differences on different days due to medication. Maybe you could have another look in a day or two, before listing your linens. Wishing you a wonderful weekend:)

Hi Barbara, I'm with some of the others on tha marvels of magnification. I'm very dependent upon my Dazor. I've had it for years, and it is wonderful!

:0) SOOOO glad you were laughing! I don't know how I missed this post, but had to come on and say that YOU, my friend, have been more than a blessing in my life. The day we "met" has been one of the best days of my life. You are the best friend a girl could ever have. Thank you for that!! BUT, if you don't quit making me laugh all the time, I'm going to have to invest in Depends....just sayin! LOL

Love you, Louie!

Your pal,
Thellie
