Phlox box is finished

\
Well this is finished and I'm not sure about something.  I am not going to use any matting around the design because I want the beautiful fabric to show so I'm thinking about stitching a border.  Suggestions?  I don't want anything to complicated because I still want this design to be the focal point.  Decisions....decisions.....
Well I've started stitching on the Papillon SAL.  I'm loving the 38ct. gander linen and stitching will all these wonderful silks on it.  I think this is going to be a fun stitch but a lllllllooooonnnnnnggggg stitch.  LOL
I went to my LNS yesterday and picked up the new BBD Loose Feathers booklet.  There's a box in there that is calling my name and I will be starting that next week.  I've gotten the linen for it....WDW Sheeps Straw....and I just have to pick out my colors.
I'm hoping that all of you are having a wonderful Sunday so far and that you are stitching away like mad.
Blessings as always,
Barbara

Wow - beautiful piece - love the fabric too. Personally I like it the way it is but if you feel it needs a bit more I suggest pulling the end design from each square down to the outside corner of the piece, then pull the little design from the outside of the circle down to the border and rotate them up and down and extend to the corners spacing as needed - using the same color so it's a compliment and not a distraction. Alternatively, you could pull the straight part on either side of the circle and rotate them left and right to the corners. Have fun - I know whatever you decide will be fabulous - it's what you do ;-)

I don't blame you, I wouldn't want to hide the beautiful fabric with a mat either. As far as a simple border: my suggestion would be to pick a very simple motif from the design itself and just repeat it to make a border. There are many choices to pick from on this beautiful piece-- but I like the simple design that reappears between the circular flower motif and the large diamond squares. It looks like a "vine" with two rose buds on the end. You could repeat that motif all the way around and leave an unstitched space between each rose bud motif.

Whatever you decide it will be gorgeous!

Brightest Blessings,

Beautiful, just as it is!

Gorgeous sampler. Yes I think no mat but a border would enhance it more. I like the comment suggestions above my comment. Hope that makes sense. If you decide no border - It's still a beautiful work of art:)

I agree with Redrodi and Beth..pull some of the design out fo the corners.

Beautiful finish! I don't think it needs a border.

I have to agree - this is a beautiful piece that would be perfect as is, or with a border created from a repeat motif in the design. Whatever you decide, it's a gorgeous finish!

Really pretty finish, Barbara--I'm not a big fan of mats; I'd rather let the beauty of a stitched piece shine on its own :)

Great piece, really
I agree with the other comments, it's great like this but repeating a small motif of the design would be great too
Maybe write a sentence, in a 'old' font you see, part of a poem or a quote...something thin to show the beauty of the fabric
whatever you decide you did a great job =D

I think it looks nice without a border, that way the fabric shows more.
