Two New Starts

I spent most of last nite looking thru my "todo" list for 2012 and I've decided to start two new designs.  I usually don't do that, but in this case I think it's for the best....and my sanity.
First up I have a confession to make.  The Paris Mandala is not going to be finished by me this year.  I'm not sure if it's the size of the project or the colors but something is not there for me.  I think I might end up taking some elements out of the design and stitching something that pleases me but it as a whole....no way.  Because of that, I decided to stitch one of Martina's small mandalas.  This is the one I have chosen:
The finished size will be about 6" x 6" .....much more do-able for me.  I'm stitching it on 28ct. Dirty Cashel Linen and since there are 3 different patterns in this chart pack, I'm thinking about doing all 3 but all on different fabrics.  Decisions.....
Next is my large project for the moment.  I've decided on L&L Fallen Roses on 32ct. natural linen and I am going to do something a little special with it.  I started this sampler about 3 years ago and then I got into something else and I put it away.  Well I went to dig it out the other day and couldn't find it.  I tore my sewing room apart and couldn't even find the pattern.  I have a bad feeling that it was tossed during a "cleanup" session so I went ahead and bought a new chart.  This is what this pattern looks like:
There at the bottom where it has that open circle space with the year stitched in, I'm going to remove the date and stitch my parents initials with the year of their marriage.  It will be my tribute to them.  Now I just have to finish it!!!!
Well that's what I've got started and I will post updates from time to time.  I hope all your worries have left your home with the beginning of a new year and that you get lots and lots of stitchie time.
Blessings as always,
Barbara

Well I think Barbara if your not happy with Paris and your not feeling it your right to change it, otherwise it becomes a chore and our hobbies should be enjoyable. I do love both pieces you've picked and I think your tribute is gorgeous, wishing you the best with it and I look forward to the updates.

What a beautiful chart to stitch as a tribute to your parents.

I know what you mean about not clicking with a pattern. We sew to create something we love and if the connection is not there it becomes a chore and not the pleasurable eperience it should be.

Both of the pieces you have chosen are lovely. You are right to come away from something if you feel you weren't going to enjoy it. It needs to be enjoyable to finish something

That's going to be a really nice tribute piece to your parents. :) I'm with you about leaving out parts of patterns! I do it all the time if something doesn't look right to me, or I just want to get it over with lol

They are both lovely pieces. I learned a long time ago to let go of the angst when it comes to not finishing something I no longer go. Its hard cause so much time goes into it, but as I get older, I resent the time that would go into finishing something I don't like. wishing you peace about your decisions...Christina

I always feel so guilty when I start a chart and don't want to finish it. But I figure my time/hard work and enjoyment is worth more than the price of the supplies.
