Taking a Break

Image result for taking a break

Good morning.  I learned last nite that a very good friend of mine has had a heart attack and this has me very worried.  She is 76 years young and you just don't recover as easily at this age as when you are young.
I've decided to take a break from my blogging and concentrate on things here at home that have been on my mind lately.  I hope all of you have a fantastic summer and that only good things come your way.  If anyone wants to get in touch with me for any reason, please feel free to email me at grammy5822@gmail.com

Blessings Upon All of You,

Quaker Holly finish

Hello my fine sweet ladies.  I hope everything is just great in your corner of this world.  I really have been stitching up a storm and finished the Quaker Holly Pinwheel by Threadwork Primitives.  One difference....well maybe 2....I added a row of the pink/red around the outside to make it appear more holidayish.  The second one is the I finished it into an ornament instead of a pinwheel.

As you can see I added it to my bowl of goodies on my angel shelf in my dining room.  I'm getting ready to start another Threadwork Primitives called Painted Threads Sampler.  I went today and picked up the threads I needed and I sent for the linen (36ct Aged Saffron) from Dames of the Needle to get the exact color needed.  Just love those colors!!!!!  It's going to take me awhile on this one because of the 36ct linen but I do believe it will be worth it.  Wish me luck!

I hope your week has been great so far and that your weekend has no snow and lots of stitchie time.

Blessings, Barbara

Keeper of the Pins

I feel for you guys that are still getting snow.  I really wish I could get some down here just for a day or two.  We are having temps anywhere's between 75 and 89 and I hate it already.

I have finished Keeper of the Pins and Joanne at 123 was sweet to send me the correct WDW wool that I needed to finish it.  I loved doing every stitch in this beautiful design.  I really like the little strawberry pins that just set off the design.

I started the pinwheel from Threadwork Primitives yesterday and I've gotten a few stitches in it.  I'm stitching this with the required threads but on a mystery hand dyed 32ct linen that has a yellow/green cast to it.  I think the colors will go very nicely on it.

By the way my neighbor two doors down now has a new roof and we are still waiting.  I called the company and they said that our supplies should be delivered by the end of the month.  I didn't like how she said "should be".

Enjoy your week,
Blessings Barbara

An Apology

I want to apologize for my last post and how I raved about the Amish having puppy mills.  I'm sure not all of them do and I should not lump the bad ones in with the good ones.  A lot of that is happening in our country today and I don't want to be one of those who do it.

With that being said I'd like to show you what I've been working on this week.  I was lucky enough to get the 2018 LHN Nashville Show Kit and I'm really enjoying it.

I feel like I'm building that house brick by brick it's so tall but I'm hoping to finish that up tonite.  It came with the overdyed flosses and you stitch it on 32ct. Lambswool Jobelan which I am doing.  I ordered the WDW Wool that I need for the finishing from 123 but she sent me the wrong thing.  I think I'm going to keep the one she sent me (it's just plain cream) and use a herringbone wool that I have here that matches the dark greys.  In case you haven't seen this, here's what it will look like when finished (except for the wool over to the side).
Keeper of the Pins (with pins and threads) - Cross Stitch

I also have on a frame the fabric to stitch this sweet little pinkeep (ornament) from Threadwork Primitives.  I promised myself I would finish Keeper of the Pins before starting this.

Quaker Holly Pinwheel - Cross Stitch Pattern

Isn't it adorable????

I also fell in love with La D Da's B is for Bunny pattern and I have that on a stretcher also.  It looks like there is some serious stitching in this one.  Although it's just stitched with DMC so it shouldn't take as long.  Does that make sense?

B is for Bunny - Cross Stitch Pattern

I hope everyone has gotten the last snow of the season and that Spring finally makes an appearance.  I know several people who are just down right depressed about it and I can't blame them.

Here's a good one for you.  Hurricane Irma hit us last September 9th and we still haven't gotten our new roof installed.  They say it will be the middle of this month and I'm crossing everything that I have to cross.  The rainy season starts soon and I don't want to be caught without a new roof.  I'm not the only ones though...our neighbor 2 doors down, his roof is worse than ours and he hasn't gotten one yet either.  I understand that there is a shortage of roofing supplies.   Our luck!

Everyone please have a safe week and don't forget to give your loved ones hugs....just for the fun of it.

Blessings, Barbara
