Now you're probably wondering why I'm showing you this piece of fabric. Well I was talking with my good bud Thellie the other day and she made mention that she had a yard of Dark Chocolate Belfast for sale. Well me being me......I bought it. Now here's where I'm going to tax your memory. Remember years ago Marilyn of Lavender & Lace had out a few patterns that called for you to bleach the fabric before you started the design. Now I love the Dark Chocolate and I have plans for it, I couldn't help think.....I wonder what would happen. Well the above is what happened. I took a 4 x 6 piece of the dark chocolate and dipped it into straight bleach for about a minute and came up with this burnt orange color. I'm thinking Halloween and maybe some fall projects would look very nice on this color. So if you have any of this fabric laying around and you want some burnt orange for a project, get out the old Clorox and dip away.

Very cool!! Thanks for sharing. I have been dyeing ric rac of late... that has been quite fun! Hugs!
It is certainly a great Halloween colour!
That turned out awesome! Can't wait to see what you stitch on it. Cool beans, Louie!
Love,
Thellie
Wow! I don't think I'd have the nerve to do that! But it looks great! Did you wash it immediately after taking it out of the bleach?

Great colour emerged!
That is a great color but be careful using bleach. Bleach continues to work until it eats through the fabric--that's one of the reason bleached white clothes wear out so fast! If you are going to use bleach on fabric you then need to rinse well and use a chlorine remover to stop the process. I use the kind that is use in an aquarium as I already have three of them in my home. Use this generously to protect your fabrics.
Fantastic Halooween color!!
