Called the doctor's office this morning at 8:10 and asked them to please see about getting me a prescription for more pain killers. Heard back from them at 2:30 to be told the doctors had all gone home at noon and there was no one there to sign a prescription. Asked why my doctor was not asked in the 4 hours that he was there for a new prescription. "I'm not sure" was the answer. Can you guess what I said after that? LOL
The health system is totally a joke now in this country and meanwhile I sit till Monday in pain.

Barbara: ,They can issue a prescription without being in the office, I would call the doctor on call at the emergency room and ask if they can call your doc, they do have message systems in place nowadays. it sucks when a doctor will not respond to your call.

They only gave you enough for a few days? New guidelines in place that docs must follow I guess. I hope he agrees to a few more in due time.
The new guidelines are questioning everything a doctor prescribes. Going inpersonto an emergency room should result in them contacting the surgeon.
I know just how you feel. My DH had a procedure on Monday. By noon on Tues. we knew there was a complication. I called the Drs office only to hear he was not in on Tues. as did surgery on Tues.(we thought that was on Monday!!) to make a long story short, we spent 5 hours at the er and he was in very bad pain the entire time! He is doing well now no thanks to that system! Sure hope you feel better soon. We had to sign our life away to get Ambien so he can get a good nights sleep!

Isn't there a nurse practitioner available to do this?
And, they could page him & he could send it to a pharmacy.
I understand there's strict rules now because of the abuse, but what about the people that really need it?
Geez, I pray that you don't have too much pain, that's along time to wait.

Barbara, I am sorry that this is happening. I know you are not a fan of doctors, but I think you should go to Urgent Care or the ER. Praying for you!
if a dr has a private practice with some other drs, he gets pd x dollars. if same dr keeps his private practice and also builds/owns an urgent care facility, he gets pd way way way more than x. maybe those drs have a side gig:) i mean, come on barbara, somebody's gotta pay for dr kids to go to college in france/etc. right? maybe office staff thought you'd just go to urgent care if they ignored you long enough. just random thoughts from silly me. joking aside, i do hope you get some relief soon. xo
Oh Barbara. I am hoping you found relief since yesterday?? I have unfortunately been in your shoes and found you need to ride their case. I call, and call and call. They end up hating me on the phone, do I care, not too much. It is sad, but we are forced to be forceful and mean. It is the only way to get service sometimes. Plus when I am in pain and am making calls, it is hard to be patient!!! Go to urgent care if you have not already. I AM PRAYING STILL.
