A New Week

......has started and I'm already exhausted.  Today was wash day....I'm a little OCD in that my laundry has to be done on Monday's.  I think I am where Peyton gets her OCD from.  Poor girl she went today to have her stitches removed from the oral surgery she had done and her face is still numb and her lips.  The oral surgeon is sending her to a specialist that deals in this type of ailment....I have no idea what the name would be.  She's had this now for almost 2 weeks and it's really starting to scare me.  I know they will do a brain MRI and the first thing that came to mind was "tumor".  I am saying prayers and if you could add some, our family would greatly appreciate it.

Here's the latest pic of her two little rugrats.  Zane has the biggest smile on his face because he climbed up onto his big brother's bed all by himself and you can tell John is not thrilled.  Now that Zane is mobile, John is finding it hard to share his toys so he has some learning to do there.  On the plus side, he won't be 3 till October 31 and he's potty trained.  I told Peyton she got off easy with him and Zane will probably be the exact opposite.

I want to share something with you that I remember my Grandmother, Anna Grace making when I was little.  This is one of my favorite items I have of hers in needlework.  The fabric around the outside is a silk and she continues to wrap it at the corner into a flower.  The size is about 5 x 5 inches.  I've been trying to come up with an idea in how to display it and keep it clean at the same time.  If you have any ideas, please share.

I've been working on Flag Lady and she now has a new head that is on straight.  I've also started the flag so hopefully sometime this week it will be finished.  I'm going to Sewing Studio tomorrow to look for a backing for the quilt I want to incorporate her in to.  Also, a Christmas fabric to go with the BBD heart I just finished.  Wish me luck!

I'm a little concerned that her arms really don't show up very well and I don't know if I should back  stitch them or not.  What do you think?  I think the back stitching would look out of place because there's no other bs in the design.  Ugh!  I hate making decisions like this.  It seems I always end up making the wrong one.  Like when I tried to do her head upside down.....dumb!

I've always wanted to do a porcelain half doll pincushion but these can be very expensive.  I found this on Etsy the other day for $25 and free shipping.  Needless to say it's on it's way to me.  Of course the white skirt is going and I'll do a needlework skirt.  I have no pattern so this is gonna be fun and exciting to work on.  I can't wait for the creative juices to start flowing.  I'm debating on painting the dolls dress with watercolors to give her a little more color but I think I'll wait to I have a dress designed.

I also want to thank all the ladies who gave comments on my BBD heart finish.  My email is acting up so just bear with me till DH gets it working again.

For a chuckle...

Blessings, Barbara

So glad you've managed to fix the flag lady with a bit of stitching surgery ;)

Maybe just a little backstitching with a light grey would work.
The boys are too cute!
That's a nice porcelain 1/2 doll, and a bargain!
Prayers for Peyton.

Your Flag Lady is looking good! I think using a light gray would help with the arms. Sending prayers for Peyton! The boys are adorable.

Too darn cute!! You're right, he doesn't look as happy as his baby brother.

You don't want to know what I do to get lighter stitching to show better. It's a little reckless.

Sending best wishes for Peyton and a simple and speedy recovery. I would leave Flag Lady's arms - I know they don't stand out massively, but backstitching would look odd. I imagine in certain lights her arms may appear more visible anyway x

I am so sorry about the troubles your daughter is having, when Mike had. Tooth pulled he was numb for two months, the dentist had hit a nerve and it needed time to recover, good luck to her.
I hope you know how adorable those two cuties are.
I love your Design you are working on, I would do an outline of a shade just a little darker then her arms, just a few stitches to see if they work.
Congratulations to Deborah, I am inspired to get the BBD booklet out and do the heart design.
