I can't believe that I haven't posted since the 4th of January. This month is just zooming along We found out what is wrong with my husband's voice and they are not sure it will ever come back. It happened either when they were putting him on the ventilator or during the surgery itself that they damaged a nerve and paralyzed half of his larynx. He goes next week for what they call a swallow test to make sure that no fluids are going into his lungs or he could develop pneumonia. The ENT doctor said there's no way of knowing when it happened so it's just something we have to deal with....as if he doesn't have enough to deal with.
I was up at Needle Orts and picked up the first 3 of BBD's newest designs. I'm not sure if I want to do them separately or longwise as they did. I still don't stitch as much as I'd like to because of the shakes and one of these days I'm going to clean out the sewing room and get rid of everything I know I'll never use again. It's just taking up space.
I did finish two shawls and they both were made of yarn that is yummy. The first one is still in the process of being blocked and the yarn was Aslan Trends King Baby Llama & Mulberry Silk and feels like a dream. It's a dk weight yarn and it works up really fast.
The second one was made with a lace weight merino wool that I purchased on Etsy. I had the light color and when I started the shawl I thought it would look really nice with a darker color added. I contacted Julie who I purchased it from and she dyed the red and it's perfect. I love this one because it's really light weight and perfect for Florida even though it's wool.
I can't close without sharing the newest picture of Little John. Peyton and him came down today and it's chilly here....high's in the 50's so he's all bundled up....but you can still see his grin.
Well that's it for now. I want to apologize for not responding to posts. I have been so busy and worried that most of the time I just want to sit and vegetate. Maybe after DH goes back to work on the first of February I can get back to my old routine. Between you and I.....he's driving me nuts!!!!
Blessings, Barbara

I'm so sorry to hear this. I know they can be quite rough when they put tubes down the throat: I have to tell them everytime that I have a false tooth so they don't know it out. I've never heard of anyone's voice being damaged though. Love the new designs, and Little John is just so cute! You could just hug him all day couldnt you!
Oh my...when it rains it pours....praying for you! What a sweetie Little John is :)
I ADORE that wool shawl...stunning work!

Also, love your addition of the darker color on your shawl. It turned out lovely and I believe it really added something to it. Take care. Hugs & Prayers, Cathryn

I will keep your husband in my prayers that all will be alright. I also get the shakes from time to time. Mine are caused by auto immune disorders. I love the BBD you got and look forward to seeing how you stitch them. The shawl is beautiful.

Sorry to hear about your dh,hope it's something that will heal in time,or they are able to repair.
My bil had gall bladder surgery almost a year ago and he's been in and out of the hospital most of the time since.Took a long time for them to find what was wrong, but once they sent him to Columbia hospital in N.Y.C. they found out that during the surgery the dr had knicked his bile duct, and that's why he is ans was having all those problems, which are still with him to this day.He has been in the hospital and or the nursing home for most of this last year.
The shawls are gorgeous, and the baby is a cutie.
