A Sewing Case for Jenn

Our daughter Jenn, seems to be the vocus of my posts this fine saturday morning and this is a sewing case I just finished last nite for her. She loves the colors blue and brown together and when I saw these fabrics at my local quilt shop, I knew what I had to do with them. The cross stitch pattern was a freebie from AMAP and can be found on her website. The case has places for your loose needles as well as packs of needles, scissors and anything else she might need.

J is for Jenn

I decided before Christmas that I was going to stitch this Mirabilia design and mount it onto a journal for our daughter, Jenn. Well I never could find a journal big enough for it and the other day Jenn and I were talking about it, and she's found one. So I thought I would show you what it looked like before and then when Jenn gets the journal finished, I will show you how she did it. This design was fun to stitch but Lordy did it have beads, beads and more beads.

Thank you

I just wanted to say "thank you" to everyone who is following my blog. I'm still working on the surprise piece but as soon as that's finished, there will be an "appreciation" contest. The winner will receive one of my finished items and maybe I'll sneak in some skeins of silk. Till then, everyone have a wonderful week and weekend and I'll catch you again soon.

Favorite Color?

We all have are favorite colors that we stitch with but I'm thinking if you only had one color, which would it be. I would have to pick blue. It's a calming color to me and it comes in such lovely shades from light teals to stunning dark navy.

Then it occurred to me that if you only had one designer to stitch, who would it be? Mine would have to be The Drawn Thread or Just Nan. I really can't make up my mind between the two. The Drawn Thread for her lovely work using specialty stitches and Just Nan for her use of colors. I know my daughter, Jenn, would pick Mirabilia but to me, they are just too much work for my brain at this age. I use to stitch some large designs but now I'm into instant gratification. LOL I love doing smalls and the finishing work. Strange right? I've always enjoyed making something out of nothing and the thought that goes into it. I also love using unusual supplies in my finishing. I've posted a picture of a Halloween biscornu I designed and finished. Strange right? The little temari pumpkin was made by my daughter Jenn so I can't take credit for that.

Rainy Mondays and a Finish

Woke up this morning to a rainy monday and no electricity. Thankfully, hubby wasn't too late for work. I finished the Attic Collection Tuffet so it's a good day to start a new project.

I thought I would have trouble with the ruffled ribbon around the outside but it was actually easier than I thought it would be. So now I get to start something new. This new project is going to take me about a week to do and I can't say what it is yet. I'm making this for someone and I will post pics after she receives it.

Sweetheart Tree Wedding Sampler

I thought I would share this with you. One of my customers had me stitch this for a friend of hers that's getting married. I will confess, Sweetheart Tree designs are a bugger to stitch and the less I see of them, the better. LOL

I Love Starting New Projects

Today is friday and I'm off to a good start on the Attic Collection Tuffet. I'm stitching it with the new Threadworx and I must admit I love this cotton. I'm becoming a silk snob but this cotton feels dreamy. This biscornu calls for ruffled ribbon all the way around it and this is one thing I have never done. She does give you good directions so we'll see how that goes.

I received a wonderful envelope today in the mail. I purchased one of HDF's varigated spools from one of the girls on the board. The name....are you ready....is Chocolate Covered Cherries. I didn't care what the silk looked like, I just knew I had to have it because of its name. I haven't made up my mind yet on what pattern I'm going to stitch with it, but I'll let you know soon.

Have a great weekend!!

Just a few things I have finished.

I have always loved Cynthia Zittel's designs and this one was no exception.

This sweet little biscornu was given as a gift to one of my friends.

This one I just wanted to try pink and black together.

This little humbug was sold to a lady who has a Halloween tree.

I had to stitch this because of my daughter's name, Jenn and my initial is also on it

This pattern is from a french designer...Danybrod

This is a design by Stacy Nash. I love doing her patterns. Such interesting colors.

Danybrod Needlecase Finished

I finished this today and it was a very fun stitch. I'm not use to putting the cross stitch on the inside of the needlebook...it's usually on the outside. Don't ya just love making smalls? I do...can't get enough of them. In case you don't know, biscornus are my favorite and that's my next small project. This one is by Just A Thought Judy ODell and it's from her Attic Collection. I will post a picture of it tomorrow once I pick the fabric.
Is winter over yet? I am so sick of this dreary weather. The sun was shining this morning but it didn't last very long and now they are calling for thunderstorms. It's only January and we're having thunderstorms. LOL
I hope all of you are having a wonderful Thursday and that you will have a great evening with your family and loved ones.

The Wednesday Blahs

Yep today is Wednesday and for me that means mid week blah. Yesterday I received my package from my daughter and in it was this sweater. Well let me tell you I haven't taken it off since I first put it on....just to sleep was it off my body. I absolutely love it!!! It's white chenille, has really large pockets and buttons, it's nice and long, and has a hood. Did I mention it was soft? It is as soft as a babies bottom. I also received another package from her that a large piece of tan linen, some Carries Silk Threads, the tea posies and some artificial sweetner that she wanted me to try. I love getting boxes....don't you?

Well I've started the Danybrod design and hope to have it finished by week's end. I have the peacock finished now am working on the outline and then the flowers. I don't know whether or not to have a tie fastener or button. I guess it will tell me when I get to that point.

I'm catching a cold....can you believe it? Here I am living in Florida and I'm getting a cold. I woke up this morning with a sore throat so now it's just a matter of time till the rest hits. Right now I feel like a nice hot cup of tea....more later.
