How is everyone doing this wonderful friday nite? I hope all is well in your part of the world and that you will be able to get plenty of stitchie time this weekend.
I was shown this freebie on the HDF message board and it was a blast to stitch. I needed a new project bag for a shawl I'm crocheting and I thought this would look really sweet on the pocket. You can find the pattern here. I stitched it on 32ct. cream Jobelan using a HDF silk called Examplar Moon Called Sea. Isn't that a great name!!! It has shades of teal, olive green and gold in it and it's stunning!
Just for the record, everything that I used in this design I already had in my sewing room. :o)
I did go to Hobby Lobby this morning to purchase some floss. I received an email from Sweet Sue the other day and she was saying how she didn't like how DMC black covered her fabric. I don't like DMC black because it tends to get fuzzy and I just hate working with it. Well incase you didn't know, Hobby Lobby is now selling Sullivan's floss which is from Mexico. I purchased 3 skeins of their black and I want to try it out and see how it feels and covers. If you have used this floss, please post a comment and tell us how you felt about it. I'm sure there are some ladies out there as curious as I am.
For you that live here in the states, please have a safe and happy Labor Day on monday and for everyone else....don't work too hard. Until we talk again....
Blessings as always,
Barbara
I thought yesterday's Nesting would be hard to beat, but you've outdone yourself - AGAIN! They're both stunning finishes.
ReplyDeleteTalk about attention to detail! The tassel matches the stripes!
ReplyDeleteThat project is just wonderful!! Please let us know what you think of the Sullivan's floss I have never seen it but the project I'm doing now is using DMC floss and it's not that great!
ReplyDeleteWonderful project bag! The colors are beautiful. I have a skein of the Sullivan's black but haven't used it yet. Friends that have tried it, love it.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous new project bag! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI think that is the prettiest project bag ever, Barbara--it's almost too pretty to use!! Love the pretty tassel and the fabrics you've used, too...
ReplyDeleteThe project bag is so pretty! I just bought some Sullivan floss last week. I have used it, I love it! To me it has a sort of silk feel to it. I find it doesn't tangle as much as DMC. I have stitched 2 small projects. I have to say the white and black do cover an area better. just my opinion... lol
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful bag. Lovely!!
ReplyDeleteabsolutely stunning :) gorgeous colours ... going to have a peek at that chart ....
ReplyDeletebtw ...sometimes your blog seems to have been over taken by something called 50cent and I can't get on ... this is the first time in about 3 weeks I have actually seen your work ....
love mouse xxxxx
I have the same problem as mouse =(
ReplyDeleteI'm redirected towards a page called 50cents and it's very difficult to access your blog =(
But this piece is amazing ! a very pretty bag indeed, and thanks to you I discovered another great blog (in French =D)
I agree with you with the DMC black. I find it's the same with the white !I hate when there's too much white because the floss goes fuzzy too
have a great weekend and a happy Labor Day =)
xxxxx

ReplyDeleteEverything matches perfectly.

I too get the 50 Cent thing when I try to log on. Weird.
