A little finish

I love this little owl!!!!!  He was such a fast stitch and he turned out just adorable.  I used an overdyed Mandarin bamboo floss in fall colors for the owl, black silk for the branch and Silk Lame Petite Braid from Rainbow Galleries for the leaves.  This is my first time using the Silk Lame on 32ct. and I love the coverage and how it looks.  I highly recommend using this if you are just looking for something with a little bit of glitz which is what I wanted for the leaves.  I don't think it shows up very well in the picture though.  I've started a little basket for all my little fall pillows and so far I'm off to a good start.
Since I finished Fall Roses I'm thinking about starting another large project but have no idea what.  I think tomorrow I'll sit in my sewing room and not come out till I find something interesting to work on.  I have some Christmas ornaments to start and I would like to have them finished by Halloween so that's a definite maybe.  Have you ever started something and then come across a design that you would rather be stitching?  I'm one of those people who only have 1 or 2 things going at one time.  I really don't see how anyone gets anything finished when you're working on 10 or 12 things at a time....or is it just me?
Anyways, tomorrow I have to stop at my LNS and pick up some buttons I ordered so maybe something will jump out at me there.
Everyone have a great weekend if I don't get to talk to you sooner,
Blessings as always,
Barbara

  1. Your owl is adorable! I have a short attention span, so I tend to have several projects going at one time, in different stages of completion.

I enjoy those designs with no backstitch , when the picture appears only with the cross stitches themselves
    very great job again
I'm part of those people who have many works on ... 5 or 6 at a time...and as soon as I start something I have another idea and start something else =D

  12. What a charming finish!! I just love those JBW designs and they finish up quite quickly.

Have fun picking out your next project, Barbara. I am a one at a time stitcher, too--just can't handle having multiple things going on :)

  19. What a beautiful little finish!! Love how the pillow turned out. I agree with you, I usually only try to work on 3 max projects but a few years ago I started 7 projects thinking I would stitch on a different one each day, well it did'nt turn out that way and now I have 7 UFO's that I occasionally pick up. SIGH maybe one day they will be finsihed.

Best of luck in picking out a new project to stitch on :)

  20. Hi there Barbara! First, my apologies, I thought I already followed your blog but I was wrong....since I righted my err, you now are up to 497 followers! WOO HOO!!!!
Okay, onward, I love your owl pillow. Great work & of course, I'm such a sucker for Ric-Ric...love the stuff!
As for stitching projects, I tend to have a couple of designs on the go. I'm usually doing a rather large design & to feel like I've "finished" something, I alternate with something small. It helps for me not to get bored as well!

  22. I found you!!!! I've been searching for a couple of weeks. Have just read all your latest posts to discover you changed your address by accident. I had a brain wave and tracked you down through World's Greatest Collection of Smalls. That link brought me here. I will re bookmark you. Didn't think you had left the planet:)

  23. Your little owl is really cute and, as usual, you picked the perfect fabrics & trims to finish it. When your fall basket is full, will you use a picture of it for your blog header?
